How to Use POC Scanner

A complete walkthrough of the POC Scanner webapp — from selecting a universe to interpreting Volume Profile charts and scan results.

POC Scanner scans stocks, ETFs, crypto, and futures for Volume Profile setups. This guide walks you through every feature step by step.

Step 1 — Choose Your Universe

When you open the app, you start on the POC Scanner dashboard. First, pick which set of symbols to scan:

UniverseWhat's IncludedBest For
S&P 500Broad US market indexGeneral market screening
NYSE / NasdaqFull exchange listingsDeep exchange-wide scan
CryptoMajor cryptocurrenciesCrypto volume analysis
CommoditiesFutures (gold, oil, grains, etc.)Commodity volume analysis
ItalyItalian exchange tickersEuropean market focus

Tip: Start with S&P 500 when learning. It has the most reliable volume data.

Step 2 — Run the Scan

Click the "Run Scan" button. The tool fetches Volume Profile data for every symbol in your selected universe. Depending on the universe size, this takes 5–15 seconds.

The scan searches for structurally bullish setups:

  • ✅ Price trading above weekly POC (bullish bias)
  • HVN support below (volume-based floor)
  • No LVN gaps below (no downside air pockets)
  • First LVN above becomes take-profit target
  • No HVN overhead (no resistance between entry and target)

Step 3 — Review the Results Table

Once the scan completes, results appear in a sortable table:

ColumnWhat It Shows
SymbolTicker name
Last PriceCurrent market price
POCWeekly Point of Control
VAH / VALValue Area boundaries
SignalBUY badge if structurally bullish
TPTake-profit target (first LVN above)
ProfileQuick visual of volume distribution

A green BUY badge means the symbol passed all signal conditions. The TP column shows your initial target.

Step 4 — Analyze the Volume Profile Chart

Click any row to open the detailed Volume Profile chart:

  • Candlesticks — price action for the selected timeframe
  • Volume Profile histogram — horizontal bars showing volume at each price level
  • POC line (amber) — the fair value reference
  • VAH / VAL lines (green / red) — value area boundaries
  • Anchored VWAP — toggleable purple line from a custom anchor
  • Zoom & pan — drag to focus on specific date ranges

Use the chart to confirm the signal and plan your entry, stop, and target.
